Course Description
Learn and experiment with Encaustic and Plaster painting processes. We will use encaustic wax, plaster, paint, inks, glues and paper to create layered effects in a variety of compositions. These processes are a great way to expand your artistic toolbox and customise effects to create totally unique artworks. Encaustic wax painting can be dated back to Ancient Greece and Egypt. Also known as hot wax painting, it is a spontaneous medium where wax is applied to wood panels. Use Mixed media paints, inks, plaster, glues and paper to create a layered effect with hot wax. We will be melting hot bees wax mixed with Damar resin to achieve interesting effects. You will also learn how to prepare a wooden panel with a mixture of plaster and other materials. Bring along some inspiration images if you would like to transfer these into an artwork, or work with the tutor’s source images. This is great course for those wanting to expriment and have fun!
