Course Description

A mixed media course that guides students through the various steps and processes towards abstracting an image, both visually and conceptually. Develop expression and perspective, experiment with wet and dry media and unconventional supports. About your Tutor: Born in Belgium and based in Perth, Stephanie Reisch is an interdisciplinary artist, curator, researcher and arts educator. Her practice references prehistory and natural phenomena through drawing, painting, sound and digital media. She has exhibited at numerous venues including Free Range Gallery, Margaret River Gallery, Daine Singer (VIC), Linton & Kay, King St Studio, Gallerysmith Project Space (VIC), ArtGeo Complex, Heathcote Museum & Gallery and Perth Galleries. Solo exhibitions include Antelands (Linton & Kay), Water & Stone (Heathcote Gallery), Silent Synchronicity (Mundaring Arts Centre) as well as group show, Contour, at Juniper Galleries in the late Robert Juniper’s studio. Stephanie holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) and Master of Fine Arts from the University of Western Australia and is represented by Linton & Kay Galleries (Perth) and Jahroc Galleries (South West). About the Course This course will guide students through the various steps and processes towards abstracting an image, both visually and conceptually. Students will observe and develop expression in their work, consider perspective and dynamic, tackle small and large-scale compositions, experiment with wet and dry media, as well as explore unconventional supports and substrates. The course will begin with an overview of basic techniques, so it is suitable for beginners through to more advanced. Materials list: Essential Materials Drawing kit: HB, 2B, 4B, 6B pencils, eraser (kneadable and hard edge), enclosed pencil sharpener, ruler, willow charcoal, compressed charcoal Fixative spray Masking tape Mixed media cartridge paper pad A3 & A2 Gesso A2 cardboard folder Watercolour set Craft glue Palette Container for water or paintbrush wash bucket Range of brushes including large flathead for washes Rags Optional Materials Acrylics Oil sticks and medium Pastels Ink Masking fluid Cardboard and fabric offcuts such as cotton, hessian, hemp or linen

Terms and Conditions

A 20% administration fee applies to cancellations made before the beginning of term. No refund will be given once the term has started. Classes are not held on public holidays. Course start and finishing dates may vary due to public holidays and availability of the course tutor. A full refund will only be given if a course is canceled by the Tresillian Arts Centre. A refund will only be given if you have a medical certificate for the dates you have missed. No pro-rata payments are available for term courses or if classes are unattended by the student.
