Develop painting techniques with acrylics, a versatile medium that can be used in many ways. This is the perfect medium for beginners, as drawing skills are also taught. Different genre will also be discussed. About your Tutor: Art has always been a part of my life, from drawing the things around me as a little girl through to a BA (Fine Arts) Honours Degree where I achieved firsts for painting and design. The vibrant West Australian art world has been an inspiration and I have taught all the different mediums since moving here 24 years ago. I have won a number of prizes for my paintings and sold extensively many to people returning to a variety of countries. About the Course The course covers all aspects of painting utilising the special qualities of acrylics which show a large diversity that can liken them to oils as well as water colours. What you need to bring Samples listed below, however, bring what you have and I will explain what you need. Colours I suggest you purchase a quality brand of paint such as Atelier or Matisse for best results with colour mixing. White Crimson Lemon Yellow or any Yellow Ultramarine Blue Pthalo Blue Cadmium Red (optional) Cerulean Blue (optional) Raw Sienna Burnt Umber Burnt Sienna Black (optional) and any other colours of your choice. Brushes Selection of bristle (hog hair) brushes including a large & medium square brush. Each week bring the following - Plastic container or glass jar for washing brushes Stretched canvas - inexpensive canvas boards or canvas pads can be purchased from Riot, Jacksons or Oxlades (better quality advisable) Old rags to wipe your brushes Drawing materials - pencils, crayons, charcoal etc Impasto Gel (available at art shops) - Optional Retarder - Optional Palette - Tear off or any large plastic plate etc. Plastic drop sheet – to cover your work space - $2 Bunnings.
Terms and Conditions
A 20% administration fee applies to cancellations made before the beginning of term. No refund will be given once the term has started. Classes are not held on public holidays. Course start and finishing dates may vary due to public holidays and availability of the course tutor. A full refund will only be given if a course is canceled by the Tresillian Arts Centre. A refund will only be given if you have a medical certificate for the dates you have missed. No pro-rata payments are available for term courses or if classes are unattended by the student.
