Course Description

Students will pay $40 material fee to the tutor at the first class. This will cover 1 x bag clay and 1 x tool kit and consumables. Create enchanting ceramics dishes, mugs, plant pots, decorations and sculptures using satisfying pottery techniques. Experiment with a wide range of embellishment processes. About the tutor: Marianne works with clay on a daily basis in her home pottery studio. She is highly productive in creating decorative, whimsical homewares, sculptures and planters. Her specialty is injecting life and character into ceramic pieces that will make you smile. Find her works online at mariannereau.com and in a handful of Perth shops. Marianne is a qualified educator specialising in art teaching. Her ceramics training was undertaken at several local Perth community art centres including Tresillian. She is also experienced in printmaking and adapts printing techniques for clay decoration. Course Description: Create enchanting ceramics dishes, mugs, plant pots, decorations and sculptures using satisfying pottery techniques. Experiment with a wide range of embellishment processes. Learn the ancient pottery-making technique of pinch pots, coil pots and slab building. Create your own bowls, dishes, plates, mugs, plant pots, hanging decorations, ornaments and sculptures. As you create new pieces experiment and explore decorative techniques to achieve rich surface design. Learn how to embellish your works in detail with fabrics, stamps, liquid clay, pigments, tissue transfers, glass, printing, resists, plaster, carving, glaze, and paints. Each week you will be shown how to make a new item with several variations to each hand-building technique. You will see live demonstrations of beautifying methods and explore the endless combinations of satisfying pottery processes. This class is suitable for beginners and experienced potters. Follow the tutor’s projects or bring your own projects and receive guidance from your teacher. What to Bring: Tea towel, apron, plastic bags x 2, notepad Materials Fee: Students will pay $40 material fee to the tutor at the first class. Terms and Conditions

A 20% administration fee applies to cancellations made before the beginning of term. No refund will be given once the term has started. Classes are not held on public holidays. Course start and finishing dates may vary due to public holidays and availability of the course tutor. A full refund will only be given if a course is canceled by the Tresillian Arts Centre. A refund will only be given if you have a medical certificate for the dates you have missed. No pro-rata payments are available for term courses or if classes are unattended by the student.
