Use watercolour techniques to bring the colour and detail of your chosen subject to life. Gain an understanding of different papers, drawing and watercolour-mixing. About your Tutor: Claudia, a keen gardener for many years, having been disappointed with photographic images of her flowers, was inspired by Barbara Hunt to take up the paint brush. Since then she has developed an interest in botanical watercolour art, visited Jenny Phillip’s studio in Melbourne and held a successful exhibition and sale of her work. She also enjoys doing needlework to create similar versions of flowers, mixing threads instead of paints. In her class for beginners she would like to share her enthusiasm for watercolour painting. Was selected to exhibit at the Town of Claremont Art Awards in 2015. About the Course I like to teach one to one and encourage students to develop their own style and inclination as to subject matter. The challenge of achieving a good colour mix is very exciting and the possibilities are endless. So is the choice of paper, brush and subject matter. Putting these three aspects together for a satisfactory result is an achievement worth aiming for. Watercolour, with it's translucency and freshness of pigment, combined with a wide range of applications, is a pleasure to tackle. Whether it be landscape, water, still life, plants or flowers is to walk in history and capture the present.
