Course Description

Looking at a blank canvas and wondering what to paint? We will workshop a variety of ideas and techniques for acrylic painting. Explore genres of still life, figurative, abstract and landscape to gain confidence in your own work. About the Tutor: ‘Art is my life’s work. Its who I am, how I spend my days, earn my living and contribute to society.’ Myra Staffa is a graduate of Curtin University. She is a practicing artist and has had a long career in Art Education. Myra has exhibited all over Australia and has work in public and private collections. About the Course: Looking at a blank canvas and wondering what to paint? Join us for this course where we’ll explore a range of ideas and techniques to created and develop ideas for acrylic painting. Learn how to use the creative process to produce practical solutions to make art with lots of playful experimentation. We will try various genres of painting and you will gain an insight into how to create your own unique style. You will complete preparation paintings as reference points to carry on with after the class and you’ll have more confidence with your own painting journey. What to bring: A4 size Visual Diary, acrylic paint set of primary colours (cool blue, cool yellow, cool red acrylics plus white and black) brushes of various shapes and sizes (preferably synthetic), apron, 2B pencil, sharpener, small/medium sponge roller, scissors, glue stick. Paint palette. Materials: $20 material fee paid in cash to your tutor at the first class. This will cover the use of extensive consumables provided by the tutor each week.


Terms and Conditions

A 20% administration fee applies to cancellations made before the beginning of the term. No refund will be given once the term has started. Participants in the term courses must be 18+ unless attending the After School or School Holiday workshops. Classes are not held on public holidays. Course start and finishing dates may vary due to public holidays and the availability of the course tutor. A full refund will only be given if a course is cancelled by the Tresillian Arts Centre. A refund will only be given if you have a medical certificate for the dates you have missed. No pro-rata payments are available for term courses or if classes are unattended by the student.
