Course Description
Learn all the requirements needed to produce dynamic interest filled watercolour scenes in a friendly fun filled course. Your tutor will take you through the skills required: Drawing Skills, People, Cars, Use of Tone and Perspective. We will also learn the benefits of using a limited pallet and how to incorporate some more advanced techniques to produce successful watercolour paintings. Some experience in watercolours is required. Learn step by step the following: 5 stages of a watercolour painting Linear perspective Aerial perspective The importance of drawing skills Drawing people Drawing cars305 Importance of tone and how it will make or break your painting Creating light by the use of darks How not to lose the light About your Tutor: Dave was born in the UK, in the heavy industrial town of Middlesbrough, Yorkshire. As a child Dave had a gift and passion for art and he drew everyday while dreaming of becoming an artist. However at only 15 yrs of age Dave was dissuaded from becoming an artist and directed instead into the local engineering industry. Materials & Equipment List PAINTS – ARTIST QUALITY TUBE PAINTS 1. Ultramarine Blue 2. Cobalt blue 3. Lemon Yellow 4. Yellow Ochre 5. Burnt Sienna 6. Brown Madder 7. Paynes Grey or Neutral Tint 8. Scarlet Lake or Cadmium red light 9. Alizarin crimson ADDITIONAL OPTIONAL TUBES 1. Viridian 2. Cobalt Turquoise 3. Gouache Permanent White 4. Cerulean Blue PAPER – Good Quality Watercolour Paper 300gsm sheet A3 with texture finish of:- Medium (Also called Cold Pressed) BRUSHES – 1 – Large Mop Brush or size 16 round brush 1 – Round size 12 must have a good point 1 – Rigger size 2 or 4 or dagger brush SLOPE BOARD or a CORFLUTE BOARD 430 x 310mm (With kitchen paper roll to place underneath to create a slope.) Large palette – with at least 4 large wells Notes & sketches - A5 or A4 spiral cartridge sketch pad or similar Compressed charcoal Pencils – 2b or 4b Small towel Tissues Kneadable eraser Water jar Masking tape (25mm) Small fine mist water spray
Terms and Conditions
A 20% administration fee applies to cancellations made before the beginning of the term. No refund will be given once the term has started. Participants in the term courses must be 18+ unless attending the After School or School Holiday workshops. Classes are not held on public holidays. Course start and finishing dates may vary due to public holidays and the availability of the course tutor. A full refund will only be given if a course is cancelled by the Tresillian Arts Centre. A refund will only be given if you have a medical certificate for the dates you have missed. No pro-rata payments are available for term courses or if classes are unattended by the student.
