Course Description

Understand the fundamentals of Abstract Art to produce your own art involving various techniques and exploring mixed media. Transfer your passion and attitude onto the canvas. The course I deliver contains aspects that develop creativity and imagination by beginning with the basic elements of art. Throughout the 8 weeks we discuss different artists and develop a routine for artistically "limbering" up. We will explore the colour wheel and colour mixing and how that relationship drives our work. We explore technique, experimentation and improvisation. Level: Beginners About the Tutor: Rob Forlani is from Perth and splits his year between Perth and Italy. He has been practicing for more than 20 years and has developed a following across Australia, Europe, and USA. Known for his bold application of color and texture, Forlani’s canvasses are filled with shapes that at first seem familiar but suggest a parallel world reachable only through the imagination. In a lustrous palette and a musical style of tempered expressionism, Forlani paints abstract images inspired by the colors and forms from the world around us and by the thoughts and theories, emotions, and daydreams from within. Course Description: This course encourages students to explore process-driven abstract painting using acrylic paint and a range of tools and techniques. Participants will learn about the basic elements and principles of art/design and utilize them to develop paintings that are exciting, engaging, and informed. Students are encouraged to come along armed with ‘an explorer’s heart and a pioneer’s vision’! What to Bring: Primary colour paint ie red, yellow, blue and white. Either acrylic or oil. Sketch book, charcoal and soft pencils. Assorted brushes plus one large for background painting. Stretched canvas, size of your choice.
