Course Description

Please note $10 material fee is NOT included in the course cost. Learn how to use watercolours to paint colourful birds and flowers. Watercolours are a great medium for young artists to explore different techniques and achieve great results. Your tutor will teach you about composition, colours and the details that will make your painting stand out. Embark on an artistic journey, exploring the vibrant and delicate world of birds and flowers through the enchanting medium of watercolours. From mastering the brush strokes to mixing dreamy watercolours, we will guide each young artist through the fundamentals of watercolour painting. Learn various techniques such as wet-on-wet, dry brush, and layering to bring your artistic visions to life. About your tutor: Suba Bala is an artist and educator based in Western Australia with a background in Fine Arts and Contemporary Art Practice. With over 20 years of experience, she has contributed to arts communities in India, Malaysia, Singapore and Western Australia. Suba is passionate about cross-cultural integration and sharing her expertise with the younger generation. She has delivered children’s workshops at Fremantle Arts Centre and Shipwrecks Museum in Fremantle. She specialises in watercolours and enjoys sketch booking and Plein air painting, finding inspiration in nature. Trained in Indian classical music, she brings a unique perspective to her artistic endeavours. Known for her versatility, she has conceptualised and led various artistic projects, including visual design, set development, music presentations, workshops, and curation. Suba Bala's commitment to creativity, education, and cultural exchange continues to drive her artistic journey and impact the communities she engages with. What to bring: Drink and Snack/lunch. Wear suitable clothing for doing artwork. Material fee: $10, paid in cash to the tutor, will include all materials needed to complete the workshop.


Terms and Conditions

A 20% administration fee applies to cancellations made before the beginning of the term. No refund will be given once the term has started. Participants in the term courses must be 18+ unless attending the After School or School Holiday workshops. Classes are not held on public holidays. Course start and finishing dates may vary due to public holidays and the availability of the course tutor. A full refund will only be given if a course is cancelled by the Tresillian Arts Centre. A refund will only be given if you have a medical certificate for the dates you have missed. No pro-rata payments are available for term courses or if classes are unattended by the student.
