Hungarian born, award-winning artist and curator, based in Perth since 1995. She has gained attention with her disarming portraits and depictions of overlooked domestic subjects.
Her work ranges from intricate mixed media works to public sculpture. She takes on a wide range of techniques from the ultra-traditional to the cutting-edge contemporary. Rogers’ works can be found in prestigious international public and private collections. Recognized internationally she was showing and taking part in the Sinergia International Painting Festival hosted by CETYS University, Baja California, Mexico (2019). She represented Australia at the 18th Asian Art Biennale Bangladesh, Shilpakala Academy, Dhaka (2018) and the G20 Art Agenda at Hangzhou China (2016). From 2016 to 2018 she worked on her international travelling show ‘Out of the Suitcase’, bringing it to Budapest and Collie Art Gallery, Mandurah Performing Art Centre and Gallery 152, York. Recently followed it with ‘Body from the Suitcase’ international travelling show (2018–2019), taking it to St Petersburg, Art Geo Gallery Busselton and Ellenbrook Art Gallery. She worked as a gallery curator for five years in Joondalup. She curated the City of Nedlands Emerge Youth Art Awards for five years. In 2018 she curated the Planners Art Exhibition, Brookfield Place, Perth. She is often trusted with the difficult role of Art Award Judge (Northern Perspectives 2019 City of Wanneroo, City of South Perth Emerging Artist Award 2017, Vasse Art Award 2010, St George’s Art Award 2008). As a visual artist she has had 15 solo shows in Australia and has had solo exhibitions in Budapest (2016) and St Petersburg (2018). In 2018 she was the featured master artist of the 2018 Victoria Park Art Season. In 2016 she completed the Inside Out Billboard Commission for the City of Joondalup and was awarded the Australian Resilience Commission of ANZAC by the City of Wanneroo in 2015. Judy was a lecturer at the Applecross Senior High School Gifted and Talented Program (2012-2015) She teaches art in Tresillian Art Centre and often runs workshops to high school and mature age students in other venues in WA.
