John Paul has been a professional practicing artist since 1974 and has over 10 years’ experience teaching art, currently oil painting at Tresillian. Over the past decades he has asserted himself as one of the strongest figurative artists working in Australia. Most likely due to its oblique but recurrent autobiographic content, his work is imbued with a sense of memory and recollection which gives it a haunting, nostalgic quality.

John’s work is in the Art Gallery of Western Australia, Lawrence Wilson Gallery, UWA; Notre Dame University; Edith Cowan University: Curtin University; New Norcia Gallery; Royal Perth and St John of God Collections and the Kerry Stokes Collection. John won the Mandorla Art Award in 1990 and in 2012. He has recently returned to Perth after living in Victoria
