About the Event
This exhibition is an exploration of new ideas, methods and directions; a playful journey into the beauty and balance of nature; tree houses, some deconstructed to their basic elements, nests, sanctuaries, homes and everyday existence amongst trees. Key ideas and images are freedom from care, floating above the ground, day dreaming and playing, with and within the concept of safety and refuge. Nesting in a tree, the air, nature, the environment; every tree house is unique to complement and balance its tree. Each of these trees communicates its individual narrative, character and function. Whether in wild untouched places or in urban settings, often disfigured to fit in with man-made structures; trees retain their individuality, their true form and nature.
This exhibition is predominantly of hand-pulled copper-plate etchings, with medium and large format prints on Fabriano and Archers print-making paper. Japanese Hosho, silk paper and 23 k gold-leaf used as support…
