Course Description
This beginner’s course introduces the full slip casting process from concept to glaze. Students design and hand-build a simple bowl or cup to serve as a positive form, then learn how to construct and pour plaster moulds. From these moulds, participants cast multiple forms in stoneware slip and explore refinement, alteration and surface development. Your tutor: Ana de Sousa Rosa Ana is a multidisciplinary artist with over 25 years’ experience across ceramics, fashion, and design. With advanced diplomas in visual art and product design, she has exhibited in multiple galleries. Ana is passionate about inspiring creativity in children, guiding them to develop new skills and explore their imaginations through the expressive, tactile medium of clay. About the Course: A key focus of the course is relief texture using shellac resist, allowing students to build layered surfaces that respond beautifully to glaze. Technical skills include mould preparation, casting thickness control, seam finishing, drying management and glaze application. By the end of the course, each student will have completed a small series of cast works that demonstrate both technical understanding and personal surface expression. What to Bring: Please wear old clothes/apron Mask, gloves, pen and paper. Old towel Journal and pen The cost to each student will be $ 55 and will include: stoneware clay, plaster for making mold, 3 litre slip for casting. Some tools and equipment are supplied. Cost of firing and access to collective glazes included in course fees (excludes - oversized or excessive production)

Terms and Conditions
A 20% administration fee applies to cancellations made before the beginning of the term. No refund will be given once the term has started. Participants in the term courses must be 18+ unless attending the After School or School Holiday workshops. Classes are not held on public holidays. Course start and finishing dates may vary due to public holidays and the availability of the course tutor. A full refund will only be given if a course is cancelled by the Tresillian Arts Centre. A refund will only be given if you have a medical certificate for the dates you have missed. No pro-rata payments are available for term courses or if classes are unattended by the student.
