Course Description
Wheel thrown or hand building, this course is available for all levels of experience and also covers glazing and decoration. Working at your own pace as individual potters you will be supported and guided through the whole process and experience the beautiful relaxing qualities clay can bring to your life. Your tutor: Rebecca Tester Clay found Rebecca Tester early but it took a few decades, a graphic design career, travel, and raising a family before it truly stuck. Since 2017, she’s been all in, honing her craft through advanced ceramics at Central TAFE under the guidance of legends like Warrick Palmateer and Bela Kotai. Based in the Perth Hills Rebecca’s ceramic work is wheel-thrown with precision, then pushed further with sculptural details, carving, and sweeping, sea-inspired glazes. Inspired by the natural landscape and her deep connection to the ocean, her glazes evoke sea tones and textures, particularly evident in her large bowls and platters. Rebecca’s large-scale pieces can use up to 20kg of clay, thrown and shaped in a single day. She also explores the coil and-throw technique to create expansive forms with fluid rims. These pieces serve as canvases for her atmospheric glazing, transforming functional objects into visual landscapes that invite contemplation.
