Course Description

This 4 hour workshop for teens will cover the fundamentals of oil painting with a professional artist in a relaxed and supportive environment. Students will explore colour, composition and basic brush and palette knife techniques through small painting studies on canvas. Suitable for all skill levels. Students will receive a thorough introduction into the wonderful world of oil painting. We will look at pigments, binders and mediums as well as colour, composition and various brush techniques. Please note that these small paintings will be wet for a couple of days so it is recommended that students bring a small cardboard box or similar to transport their works in. About the Tutor: Stephanie teaches Drawing, Oil painting and Mixed Media. Stephanie Reisch is an interdisciplinary artist, curator, researcher and arts educator who works from her studio in Burswood. Her practice references prehistory and natural phenomena through drawing, painting, sound and digital media. Preferring to work large-scale with oils on canvas, she subverts traditional representations of the Australian landscape by capturing not the physical forms of things or places but rather the energy and traces left behind. Stephanie holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Hons) and Master of Fine Arts from the University of Western Australia and is represented by Linton & Kay Galleries. Recent exhibitions include Australian Ghosts at Lost Eden Creative, Raw Colour at Holmes á Court Gallery, All Past Futures Are Now at Linton & Kay and Sculpture at Bathers Beach 2022. Her work is held in private, corporate and public collections nationally, including the Town of Victoria Park and Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital Art Collection. What to bring: Students to bring an old shirt or smock, a small glass jar with lid, cardboard box and an old rag Lunch and waterbottle
