Course Description
A new beginner’s course with a difference…We are not filling in time but laying a solid foundation and setting you up for a future win. This class show will show you the fundamentals of watercolour and provide you a foundation to move in, which ever direction you decide to take it. You will learn about which materials you “only need” and how to use the materials that are unique to watercolour. The language of art, the ABCs such as light and shade on objects and how to choose the right colours. In this class you will be explore how to see colour, mix colour, look at shapes of importance and how to obtain a variety of edges. The class will also cover washes, special effects, and the process behind process behind painting. About the tutor: Jon Martin was born in the UK but spent his formative years on a farm in Tasmania, where the vast landscapes ignited his early interest in art. Recognized for his exceptional drawing skills during his school years, Jon's artistic journey took a significant turn a decade ago when he was inspired by a renowned contemporary watercolour artist to explore the world of watercolours. For the past ten years, watercolour painting has been Jon's driving passion. His journey began with intensive learning under the guidance of an international artist for eight years. Additionally, he has enriched his skills by attending numerous workshops over the last four years. This blend of formal mentorship and continuous education has allowed Jon to develop a unique and masterful style. Jon has been actively exhibiting his work for the past four years, during which he has received awards, recognizing his talent and dedication. What to bring: Materials list: Ordinary A5 sketch pad. 100 percent cotton watercolour paper 300 gsm cold pressed 280 x 380 (Baohong Medium (or better) Watercolour paper) 1/4 sheet demo packs (20) Archers watercolour 2 full sheets cut into quarters 2b pencil mechanical .7mm and soft rubber Paints: Tubes are best, but pans will work. Colour tubes 15 ml artist quality preferred. Burnt sienna, Ultramarine, Yellow ochre, Alizarin crimson, Titanium white opaque watercolour, Neutral tint (black) Brushes # 12 synthetic round x 2 30 mm hake brush Liner for details Sponge household Sea sponge Palette (watertight, sealed watertight keeps paint moist) Towel small 40 x 50 Cor flute or sealed panel to paint on Packing tape white from Bunnings Small container for water about 250ml or bigger

Terms and Conditions
A 20% administration fee applies to cancellations made before the beginning of the term. No refund will be given once the term has started. Participants in the term courses must be 18+ unless attending the After School or School Holiday workshops. Classes are not held on public holidays. Course start and finishing dates may vary due to public holidays and the availability of the course tutor. A full refund will only be given if a course is cancelled by the Tresillian Arts Centre. A refund will only be given if you have a medical certificate for the dates you have missed. No pro-rata payments are available for term courses or if classes are unattended by the student.
