Course Description

Painting with acrylics at an intermediate to advanced level, you will be developing your painting techniques with this versatile medium . Colour theory, drawing skills and different genre are taught in this class. Students are developing their own compositions or starting fresh with tutor feedback on new works from concept to completion. About your Tutor: Art has always been a part of Caroline's life, from drawing the things around her as a child, through to a BFA Honours Degree. The vibrant West Australian art world has been an inspiration and Caroline has taught all the different mediums since moving here more than 25years ago. She has won a number of prizes for her paintings and has works in collections nationally and internationally. About the Course The course covers all aspects of painting, utilising the special qualities of acrylics which show a large diversity that can liken them to oils as well as watercolours. What you need to bring Samples listed below, however, bring what you have and your tutor will explain what you need in class. Colours Purchase a quality brand of paint such as Atelier or Matisse for best results with colour mixing. White Crimson Lemon Yellow or Cadmium Yelllow Ultramarine Blue Pthalo Blue Cadmium Red (optional) Cerulean Blue (optional) Raw Sienna Burnt Umber Burnt Sienna Black (optional) and any other colours of your choice. Brushes Selection of bristle (hog hair) brushes including a large & medium flat brush. Each week bring the following - Plastic container or glass jar for washing brushes Stretched canvas - inexpensive canvas boards or canvas pads can be purchased from Jacksons or Oxlades (better quality advisable) Old rags to wipe your brushes Drawing materials - pencils, crayons, charcoal etc Impasto Gel (available at art shops - optional) Retarder (optional) Palette - Tear off or any large plastic plate etc.


Terms and Conditions

A 20% administration fee applies to cancellations made before the beginning of the term. No refund will be given once the term has started. Participants in the term courses must be 18+ unless attending the After School or School Holiday workshops. Classes are not held on public holidays. Course start and finishing dates may vary due to public holidays and the availability of the course tutor. A full refund will only be given if a course is cancelled by the Tresillian Arts Centre. A refund will only be given if you have a medical certificate for the dates you have missed. No pro-rata payments are available for term courses or if classes are unattended by the student.
