Course Description
Apply your existing Watercolour skills to the subject of plants and flowers. Watercolour is the ideal medium to capture the colour and transluscence of botanicals. Explore colour, composition and paint application. This course requires some knowledge of painting with watercolours and is not suitable for beginners. About your Tuttor: Barbara is a Perth girl who studied in London at the John Cass School of Art. She then furthered her education at Curtin University where she completed a degree in Fine Arts (majoring in painting) and a graduate diploma in education. Thereafter she has been pursuing her own painting career and teaching in the adult education sector. Barbara has had solo exhibitions at Fremantle Arts Centre and Westfield Winery. She has participated in numerous group exhibitions and has work in private collections. About the Course Watercolour is the ideal medium to capture the colour and translucence of flowers and plants. This course will teach help you apply your watercolour skills to successful botanical paintings. Lessons vary from term to term and are supported by a wide range of reference materials. Your tutor will advise what plant is being focused on for each session. What you need to bring Barbara prefers Winsor & Newton watercolour paints (artists quality), or bring your own selection of paints. Basic paint requirements are: Transparent Yellow, Winsor Violet, New Gamboge, Scarlet Lake, Alizarin Crimson Ultramarine, Blue Permanent, Rose, Cobalt Blue, Burnt Sienna, Raw Sienna, Burnt Umber, Sap Green and Viridian. Other requirements : White Gouache Plants/flowers (tutor will notify students) 1 sheet 300gsm medium (cold pressed) watercolour paper Round brush (size 1, 4, 6, 8) with good point HB pencil or mechanical pencil Soft eraser Palette and water container(s) Tissues Board (medium) or large watercolour pad
Terms and Conditions
A 20% administration fee applies to cancellations made before the beginning of the term. No refund will be given once the term has started. Participants in the term courses must be 18+ unless attending the After School or School Holiday workshops. Classes are not held on public holidays. Course start and finishing dates may vary due to public holidays and the availability of the course tutor. A full refund will only be given if a course is cancelled by the Tresillian Arts Centre. A refund will only be given if you have a medical certificate for the dates you have missed. No pro-rata payments are available for term courses or if classes are unattended by the student.
