Embroidery
Although my career was in the medical profession as a Medical Scientist working in South Africa and Australia both in forensic science and histology, I have been stitching in one form or another since I was a small girl learning from my mother. My stitching journey has taken me through interior design, craft, quilting and embroidery, with embroidery being my passion. My embroidery work encompasses thread painting, stumpwork and goldwork with techniques ranging from modern to Elizabethan as recognised by the Royal School of Needlework (RSN) at Hampton Court Palace in London. I am a member of the Claremont Stitching group in Perth where I teach and I am also a member of the Embroidery Guild of Western Australia. I have completed many courses a masterclasses with Master stitchers such as Maree Talbot, Tanya Cohen, Alison Cole and Helen Richmond, who teach in Australia and worldwide and exhibit nationally and internationally as well as being regular contributors to Australia's premier stitchers magazine "Inspirations". I have also attended and completed courses at the Royal School of Needlework particularly around Elizabethan needlework. My latest project was completing the "Opus Anglicanum (Violet)" at the RSN at Hampton Court, which, incidentally, was responsible for all the embroidery for King Charles' coronation
