Kirsten Hocking

Kirsten is a Perth-based artist and educator whose work references domestic objects and plants to explore our cultural relationships with each other and to Nature. She has a strong grounding in traditional painting, drawing and sculptural ceramic techniques. She holds a Bachelor of Contemporary Arts from Edith Cowan University and a Graduate Diploma of Education from The University of Western Australia.
Kirsten has taught art to hundreds of students in her role as a secondary school art teacher. One of her happiest places is being in the studio with students, teaching them different artistic mediums and sharing with them in the joy of creative making.
Kirsten has won awards for her paintings and regularly participates in group exhibitions at a local and national level. Kirsten is one of the 4 featured artists in the exhibition ‘Colour & Light’ on show at Tresillian Arts Centre from 10-31 March 2023.
